Framingham Public Schools: Videos

Kindergarteners give advice to graduating seniors

We sat down with Kindergarteners across the district and after introducing the concept of high school, graduation, and advice - we asked them to help send off our seniors. In this brief video, they share their advice to the class of 2023. Enjoy 🙂

Role

  • I came up with the communication plan for Principals and Kindergarten Teachers and coordinated the process to identify recommended students.

  • I designed/led a mini lesson for the Kindergarteners to ensure they understood what it means to be a graduating senior.

  • I prepared the questions for student interviews and conducted the majority of student interviews.

  • I communicated with the parents of all Kindergarten students to thank them for their child’s participation and to ensure they saw the video.

Mini Lesson

To help explain the concept of high school graduation, I created a simple visual for each school that showed the Kindergarteners where they are now, what happens when they go to middle school, then high school, and the marked end of high school. This helped frame the conversation and allowed them to come up with advice or words of wisdom for our graduating seniors!

Transition to Kindergarten - A Day in the Life

Executive Produced by the Parent Information Center at Framingham Public Schools, this video outlines 'a day in the life' of Kindergartener. As incoming Kindergarten parents hear from a Kindergarten teacher and students, we hope they will feel excited and comforted about this important milestone for their children.

Role

  • I worked with our Director of Student Registration to outline the storyboard.

  • I facilitated the partnership with our TV Production Teacher at the High School to bring on student videographers, as well as the partnership with FEC-TV (Framingham Education Channel) for video editing.

  • I prepared the questions for the teacher and student interviews, and conducted the interviews.

  • I identified the parts of the day to be captured.

  • This video was also prepared with Spanish and Portuguese subtitles and is now played annually at the Kindergarten Information Night.

Looking Back

While I am proud of this video and am glad our Student Registration Department has content made by us, and for us, to share with incoming FPS families, there are things I would do differently if we were to edit or re-create in the future. I would update to match new branding (logos, fonts, etc) and encourage a more consistent approach to the subtitle tips.

iNight 2024 - Sage Project Interviews

On March 6, 2024, the Framingham Public Schools Sage Program hosted iNight, a celebration of independent investigation projects. Students in 4th and 5th grade selected topics of interest then worked to solve a problem, produce something creative, or facilitate self-growth. In this video, Sage students talk about their iNight projects, answering questions from both student and adult interview facilitators. Congratulations to all students who presented projects!

Role

  • I trained the student interviewer (also my son) to ask leading questions of his peers and friends. I also did a couple of the student interviews myself.
